About

Hi, I’m Carrie, an (almost) empty-nest, GenX female solo traveler!

I took my first solo flight — to study abroad in Paris — in 1993, and I haven’t stopped. A freelance writer by trade, I’ve also become an expert in booking travel with miles and points, saving money while traveling, and putting together low-cost itineraries. I often fly free thanks to credit card points and stay in free lodging thanks to home exchange and pet sitting.

If you want to learn how to travel free or cheap using miles and points, you’re in the right place! I can help you earn more miles and use the miles you have.

In recent years, my travels have focused on Norway, where I took my family for two heritage trips. Having lived in Paris, I’ll be adding more France content as well. My most recent favorite trip was a family stay in Costa Rica! I also love skiing and visiting national parks — especially with my grown and teen kids.

As my kids get older, I plan to spend more time traveling the world — and staying in one destination for months at a time. As I learn, I’ll share my insider tips with you!
